Rugby World Cup ラグビー・ワールド・カップ
This week all my thoughts are on the Rugby world cup that will be starting this Saturday, Japan time, at 3:am. Rugby is the main sport in Fiji so everybody back in Fiji will be driving around with flags on the cars or boats and the atmosphere back home will be so exciting.
Fiji will be playing the host nation England at the opening match. History shows England winning all their five previous encounters by more than 13 points each time. This time though, we Fijians have a very strong team and we believe this is the strongest team ever to be sent to a Rugby world cup,so we believe we can create an upset if England isn’t careful. I hope you can watch the opening match and cheer for Fiji with me, for I will be cheering for Japan too when they play.
These pictures from bottom left to the top tell a story. The first shows them winning the qualification match from the Oceania group. The next shows a war cry dance performed by the rugby team before each match starts. Like the NZ haka this calls on the opponents to be ready for they are about to do battle. the middle pictures are the build up to the world cup. Matches and training session that they had and finally the top shows the Fiji team being welcomed by the host Nation as the first team to arrive.
Now for the answer to last weeks secret fruit tree. That’s a cocoa tree.
Until next time
All the best
